Home > VolunteersVolunteersAt Operation Smile, our volunteer network makes a difference in the lives of children everyday. The Washington State chapter volunteers range from medical and health professionals who offer their knowledge and time during our missions to students and business professionals who raise funds and awareness of Operation Smile's mission. Medical Professionals Medical mission volunteers must be credentialed by Operation Smile prior to joining a mission. If you have not been credentialed by Operation Smile, please fill out the Medical Volunteers Online Application Request. If you are already a credentialed Operation Smile medical volunteer, please contact us to find out about volunteer postions for our next upcoming mission. Students Students have played a unique role in Operation Smile since its inception nearly 20 years ago. Founders Bill and Kathy Magee took their oldest daughter, Bridgette, with them on one of their first missions to the Philippines. Since that time, Operation Smile has depended upon students around the world, contributing even for just a brief moment, their youthful energy, enthusiasm, and unique imagination to make a child smile. Currently, Operation Smile supports over 200 clubs in middle and high schools, universities, and medical schools. Our Chapter is thrilled to have Student Programs established in our region! Students from the University of Washington Medical School, undergraduates at the University of Washington, and high school students at Lakeside School have formed Operation Smile Student Associations (OSSAs). They have joined our local Operation Smile Chapter in our mission to change lives, one smile at a time. This work is challenging and rewarding, and through their efforts, students can give many children a chance at a new life. Student members have the opportunity to:
